What basement crack repair costs
Most homeowners pay $350 – $900 to have one basement wall crack injected, and $500 – $1,600 for a floor slab crack. Both figures cover a single crack in a single visit. Contractors usually price the second and third crack on the same trip at $200 – $500 each, because the mobilization is already paid for.
Within the wall-crack range, the variables are length, width and access. A 7-foot vertical crack on an open wall is the low end. The same crack behind a finished stud bay, or one wide enough to need surface ports every 6 inches, is the high end. Injection material makes surprisingly little difference to the total — the labor and the trip are the cost.
The floor-crack range looks high next to the wall-crack range, and the reason is not the concrete work. It is the flooring: carpet, pad, tile or engineered plank has to come up over the crack and go back down afterward. On a bare slab in an unfinished basement, the same repair lands near $500.

The two injection lines carry the same price for a reason: the choice between polyurethane and epoxy is technical rather than financial. Polyurethane foams on contact with water and stays flexible, so it suits a wet crack that moves a little with the seasons. Epoxy cures rigid and re-bonds the two faces of the concrete, which makes it the choice on a dry crack where an engineer wants the wall's strength restored. A contractor who quotes one price for both is telling you the truth about their cost structure.
Regional labor rates move these figures by roughly a quarter in either direction. Injection pricing is fairly flat across the country because the material and the method are the same everywhere, while floor slab work tracks local flooring and finish carpentry rates and therefore varies more. What varies most of all is the trip charge, which is why bundling every crack into one visit is the single easiest way to lower a crack repair bill.

Wall cracks and floor cracks mean different things
In most homes the basement floor is a slab poured on grade, carrying its own weight and whatever you set on it. The walls carry the house and hold back the soil. That structural difference is why a thin meandering floor crack is usually curing shrinkage while a wall crack of the same width earns a closer look.
Three floor cracks do deserve attention. One where the two sides sit at different heights means the soil under one panel has dropped, and lifting it costs $700 – $2,100 per section. One that pushes water up during heavy rain means the water table is rising above your slab, which is a drainage job at $2,300 – $7,500. And one that lines up with a crack in the wall above it suggests both are tracking the same movement — that is the case for spending $450 – $600 on an engineer before spending anything on repair.
The cracks you can leave alone
A vertical crack narrower than 1/8 inch, dry through a full rainy season, with both sides flush, is shrinkage from the year the concrete cured. Nearly every poured basement has a few. Sealing them buys you tidiness, and the honest number to spend is $0.
Track it instead of pricing it. Draw a pencil line across each end of the crack, date it, and measure the width at the widest point with a crack gauge or a business card. Re-check in six months. A crack that has stayed put is telling you the same thing a $450 engineer visit would, for free — and you now have dated evidence for the next buyer's inspector.
The one exception worth spending on early: seal every wall crack before you finish a basement. Once framing and drywall are up, the crack becomes invisible and a leak that appears later means tearing out finished work. What you can DIY, and when to bring in an engineer
A homeowner injection kit costs $60 – $150 and works well on a dry, stable, non-structural vertical crack that you can reach from both ends. Set the surface ports, cap the face, and inject from the bottom up. Give yourself an afternoon.
Leave the crack to a contractor when it is horizontal, when it is wider than about a quarter inch, when the two sides have offset, when it is growing, or when it is actively wet while you are trying to work. Those conditions all mean the crack is a symptom, and sealing a symptom while the cause continues is how people spend $700 twice.
Above roughly $5,000 of quoted work, buy an independent structural engineer's report at $450 – $600 before you sign. The engineer sells no repairs, so the findings are the one input in the process with no product attached.
